Drop pins and add notes
Beyond measuring, you can mark up your site — flag a damaged fence, note where a gate should go, or grab the exact coordinates of a wellhead. There are three marking tools, and they work on both the 2D map and every 3D view.
Coordinate pin — grab an exact location
- Click the map-pin icon in the toolbar (tooltip: Drop pin to see coordinates).
- Click the spot you want. A pin drops and its coordinates appear right on the label — latitude/longitude on the map, or position in a 3D view.
Use this when you need to give someone an exact point to find on the ground.
Note (annotation) — flag something with text
- Click the note icon (a message/plus icon, tooltip: Add annotation pin).
- Click where the note belongs. A text box opens.
- Type your note (for example, "Erosion here after last storm") and save.
- A green marker with your text appears at that spot.
Notes are the way to communicate about a specific place. They can hold a full description, and your team can reply to them in a comment thread and mark them resolved — see Manage, share & export your measurements.
Point of Interest (POI) — a spot to show off in 3D
In the 3D views there's also a target icon (tooltip: Place Point of Interest to orbit around). Click a spot and the camera gently orbits around it — great for presenting a feature. A Stop button and a speed slider appear while it's orbiting.
Tips
- The bottom-of-screen hint always tells you what the active tool will do next.
- Undo (curved-arrow icon) removes your last placement.
- Everything you drop is listed in the results panel on the left, where you can hide, focus, or delete it.
- A note or pin you place in one view is georeferenced, so it shows up in the other views too — placed on the 3D model, it appears on the 2D map in the right spot.
- Placing a marker is a deliberate click — panning and zooming won't drop one; you have to pick the tool first.

Manage, share & export your measurements and notes
Everything you measure or mark collects in one panel. Show/hide items, switch units, share notes with your team, track them to resolved, and export to GeoJSON, KML, CSV, or DXF.
Measure a distance
Click two or more points to measure length on the 2D map or in any 3D view. Get a live distance readout plus compass bearing.
Measure an area
Draw a polygon to measure surface area — a field, a roof, a parking lot — with perimeter and a quick volume estimate. Works on the map and in 3D.
